This place is awesome! I came here for the free intro to self-defense seminar and I was really impressed with how thorough it was! The instructors are all very kind, helpful people and they showed us some great moves to get out of tough situations. They also had some great stories to share! A lot of self-defense is about avoiding getting into a fight in the first place, and a big focus of the seminar was about that, which I appreciated! I met some really nice people too and had a great time. I’m definitely looking forward to the next one! Thanks so much for for the free class!!
This a great place for learning martial arts, discipline and fitness. John (the main instructor) is a great teacher and he is very determined to ensure that his students are doing their best.
I’ve been training at Synergy for over 15 years, and have nothing but amazing things to say about John and the club. John is an incredible teacher who has mentored me from a quiet white belt to a confident black belt. Classes are engaging and fun while teaching leadership and discipline.
My daughter started at Synergy Martial Arts a couple of months before her third birthday. At the time, she didn’t speak any English as we had returned from living abroad and was relatively shy. I have seen her flourish in the past year and three months. Her confidence has developed, she has learned English, and has even developed meaningful friendships. Master John is an amazing teacher and has truly made classes worthwhile for children and their development. He is kind, caring, supportive and attentive of every child’s individual needs. His teaching style and the safe environment he provides our children with is what makes him stand out. These are the things that set the students up for success.
Additionally, my husband takes Muay Thai classes at Synergy Martial Arts and is very happy with the classes and instructors. We would recommend these classes to everyone!
We hosted my son’s 8th birthday party at Synergy and it was amazing! We have done parties at a lot of spots in the neighbourhood over the years but this was by far the best. They made my son feel so special and all the kids had so much fun. The instructors were super patient and really engaging. The highlight of the party was breaking pieces of wood that they the. got to bring home with them. They also gave my son a sword to (carefully) cut his cake with. Highly recommend Synergy for a birthday party!
I cannot speak highly enough about Synergy Martial Arts. I did a 7-month adult kickboxing program. John, the owner, and Emmy, the instructor, never failed to provide a clean, comfortable, supportive and motivating space. Adults of all ages and abilities are welcomed here by staff and by other participants. The adult membership provides access to evening kickboxing, yoga and boot camp classes. I highly recommend visiting this studio in Leaside. You will be welcomed and supported the whole time. I’m only leaving because I’m moving to a different neighbourhood, so I will be missing this community deeply. I’m definitely leaving stronger and healthier!
Master John is absolutely fantastic with children and teaching kids! I love his temperament, the way he connects with kids, and the skills he teaches them. Thank you for many years of excellence in teaching our son.
My son started taekwondo with Master John when he was 5 years old and this past January, when he was almost 13 he got his junior black belt. We can’t stress enough how amazing this training was for his overall development. We would like to thank John for all his support and guidance as he continues to train our son in kickboxing. He was like a second father to our son and we can’t thank him enough for that. We would definitely recommend taekwondo and kickboxing for any young boy who wants to develop into a real man.
My son (7 years old) has been attending for 6 months and loves it. John and the entire crew at synergy are amazing! Definitely try it out if you are considering it!
