I’ve been going here since I was an kid, and it’s been a great experience. Master John is amazing, as are all the kids that go to Synergy. Kids- they love the staff and activities-, adults and youth alike love it here. Im coming up on my black belt, and I wouldn’t have wanted to do taekwondo anywhere else.

We held my son's 5th birthday party here and I was impressed with the quality of the party. The party was well-organized and John was great with engaging with the kids, knowing their names, and providing a mix of martial arts activities and games. He and his team were very gracious to interact with. I would highly recommend Synergy for a martial arts themed party.

This place is awesome! I came here for the free intro to self-defense seminar and I was really impressed with how thorough it was! The instructors are all very kind, helpful people and they showed us some great moves to get out of tough situations. They also had some great stories to share! A lot of self-defense is about avoiding getting into a fight in the first place, and a big focus of the seminar was about that, which I appreciated! I met some really nice people too and had a great time. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one! Thanks so much for for the free class!!

My son started taekwondo with Master John when he was 5 years old and this past January, when he was almost 13 he got his junior black belt. We can’t stress enough how amazing this training was for his overall development. We would like to thank John for all his support and guidance as he continues to train our son in kickboxing. He was like a second father to our son and we can’t thank him enough for that. We would definitely recommend taekwondo and kickboxing for any young boy who wants to develop into a real man.

My son has been attending Synergy Martial Arts for just over 2 years. He finds the classes to be quite good. He thinks they are challenging and fun! He enjoys learning new techniques, perfecting Forms, sparring, and improving his defense. He also enjoys the games they play at the end of class. Camps and the birthday parties are also a lot of fun! Our 8 year old daughter and her friends had an amazing birthday party experience at Synergy. We were very impressed at how the instructor kept the attention of the 14 kids (and somehow learned and remembered all of their names). They learned a kick and a hammer punch, and then employed their skills to break boards. Other fun games ensued. It is a perfect and engaging way to celebrate a birthday party.

I’ve been coming to Taekwondo classes here for a solid 7 years now. Not only does it teach you everything to know about the specific martial art, but the cardio keeps you limber and in great shape. In addition, they offer both an excellent kickboxing course, boot camp and self defence courses for all different groups. Best of all, I have noticed a huge boost in my confidence and character. Coming to Synergy Martial arts means you’ll also be welcomed to an awesome community of super cool people who help make every class just as enjoyable and challenging as the last. Seriously can’t recommend this place enough!!

I signed up my kids for Synergy Martial Arts, 8 years ago and I could say it has been one of the best activities I have chosen for my kids.
Both my kids love the classes and look forward to attend each time. The head instructor/master John, is absolutely top-notch. He is very patient, encouraging and takes the time to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and included.
Synergy Martial Arts is a family martial arts classes in Toronto who offers dynamic and fun classes for all ages covering Tae Kwando, Kick Boxing, Muay Thai, fitness, and self defense.
I highly recommend everyone to try it out. YOU WILL LOVE IT.

We hosted my son’s 8th birthday party at Synergy and it was amazing! We have done parties at a lot of spots in the neighbourhood over the years but this was by far the best. They made my son feel so special and all the kids had so much fun. The instructors were super patient and really engaging. The highlight of the party was breaking pieces of wood that they the. got to bring home with them. They also gave my son a sword to (carefully) cut his cake with. Highly recommend Synergy for a birthday party!

My daughter started at Synergy Martial Arts a couple of months before her third birthday. At the time, she didn’t speak any English as we had returned from living abroad and was relatively shy. I have seen her flourish in the past year and three months. Her confidence has developed, she has learned English, and has even developed meaningful friendships. Master John is an amazing teacher and has truly made classes worthwhile for children and their development. He is kind, caring, supportive and attentive of every child’s individual needs. His teaching style and the safe environment he provides our children with is what makes him stand out. These are the things that set the students up for success.
Additionally, my husband takes Muay Thai classes at Synergy Martial Arts and is very happy with the classes and instructors. We would recommend these classes to everyone!

I cannot speak highly enough about Synergy Martial Arts. I did a 7-month adult kickboxing program. John, the owner, and Emmy, the instructor, never failed to provide a clean, comfortable, supportive and motivating space. Adults of all ages and abilities are welcomed here by staff and by other participants. The adult membership provides access to evening kickboxing, yoga and boot camp classes. I highly recommend visiting this studio in Leaside. You will be welcomed and supported the whole time. I'm only leaving because I'm moving to a different neighbourhood, so I will be missing this community deeply. I'm definitely leaving stronger and healthier!

THE BEGINNING

OUR JOURNEY

Established in June 2005, Synergy Martial Arts began its journey in the basement of a church in Leaside, driven by a passion for teaching quality martial arts. Our founder and dedicated martial artist, John Kolakovic, envisioned creating a space where individuals could not only learn self-defense but also grow in confidence, respect, and discipline. This commitment to excellence quickly established Synergy as a cornerstone of the community.

By 2010, our growing family of students necessitated a move to our current commercial location. This move allowed us to expand our offerings and accommodate more students, leading to our recognition as the largest martial arts school in Leaside. Today, we proudly hold the title of the premier martial arts school in the area and are a proud member of Taekwondo Ontario, the official governing body for World Taekwondo (WT) in the Province of Ontario.
